Elvina Whitlow, 74, of Argyle, MN, passed away on early Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren, MN with her family by her side.

Elvina Whitlow, 74, of Argyle, MN, passed away on early Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren, MN with her family by her side.
Elvina Kathleen Svir was born on March 6, 1935 in Greenbush, MN, the daughter of George and Emelia (Ruschman) Svir. She was raised in Greenbush where she graduated from high school.
On January 20, 1954, Elvina married Duane Whitlow. They made their home in Argyle. She worked as a cook in various restaurants, worked at Valley Coverall and was a cook at St. Rose School, Argyle Public School and Stephen/Argyle Public School. Duane died on April 26, 1994. Elvina moved to the Good Samaritan Center on March 31, 2008.
She was a member of St. Rose Church and St. Anne’s Society. Elvina was also active with the church bazaar.
Elvina enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, painting pictures and playing cards and bingo.
Left to mourn her passing are her three sons, Jerry (Patsy) Whitlow of Argyle, MN, Gary Whitlow of Little Falls, MN and Jason Whitlow of Big Lake, MN; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ray (Arlene) Svir and Dick (Rita) Svir all of Two Harbors, MN and Larry (Marie) Svir of Big Lake, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two infant sons and three sisters, Margaret, Carolyn and Emelia.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 12, 2009 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Argyle, MN.
Visitation: After 5:00 p.m. with 6:00 p.m. prayer service on Sunday at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Argyle and one hour before services at the church on Monday.
Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Argyle, MN.

Extending my sympathy to Jerry, Gary, Jason and their families, to Elvina's brothers, many nieces, nephews, grandchildrent and great grandchildren. She was a very dear lady and a great friend. It was truly a blessing to have known her and she will be missed ever so much. My thoughts are with you all today as you say good bye. She is looking down from heaven. God Bless.
