Doug entered the United States Air Force in July of 1958 and was stationed at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, California. He was united in marriage to Mary Jane Fealy on June 25, 1960 and received his honorable discharge in June of 1962.

He volunteered at the grocery store delivering groceries and milk, meals on wheels, mowed at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, and was a member of the Fairview Cemetery Board. He was also a dedicated and active member of the United Methodist Church in Erskine. Doug was known as a person that was always willing lend a helping hand to someone in need.

Doug’s interests included camping, reading, walking, feeding the birds, and watching the “Price Is Right”. Most of all, he loved the time that he spent together with his family.
