Carl VanCamp 75, of Drayton, passed away at his home on Monday morning, September 7, 2009.

Carl Leonard Vancamp was born January 23, 1934, the son of Alton and Gladys (Jamison) VanCamp. He grew up in Drayton and attended school there. Carl married Charlene Wells January 16, 1952 at Warren, Minnesota. The couple settled in Drayton and Carl worked as a mechanic at several area businesses, including Hanson-Kopperud in Grafton and Helm’s in Drayton. He also owned and operated Carl’s Standard in Drayton. Carl did custodial work at the Drayton State Bank and Tisdale Manor in addition to driving sanitation truck. He retired in 1995 because of failing health. He was a member of Drayton United Methodist Church.

Family members include his wife, Charlene; daughters, Sherry (Rodney) Howe, Sacred Heart, MN and LeeAnn (Darin Johnson) VanCamp, Grand Forks, ND; a son, Brett (Kerri) VanCamp, Drayton; nine grandchildren, Cory (Carrie), Carl (Molly), Christopher (Kelly), Cody, Matthew, Mitchell (Lindsay), Stacey, Brandon and Miranda; six great grandchildren; a brother, Raymond (Roberta) VanCamp, Drayton and a sister, Reva Gregg, Columbia, MD. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lorne.

Memorial Services are scheduled for Friday, September 11, 2009 at 3 p.m. in the Drayton United Methodist Church.
