Dorothy Ostlie, 80, of Northwood died Sunday, August 16, 2009, at the Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood.
Dorothy Beatrice Jacobson was born October 10, 1928 in Kempton, ND, the daughter of Tollie and Mathilda (Jensvold) Jacobson. She attended school in Kempton and in Larimore, ND. On June 29, 1947 she was united in marriage to Allen Ostlie. They made their homes in Northwood, ND, and Downey and Santa Rosa, CA before returning home to a farm near Emerado, ND in 1963. Dorothy worked at the Grand Forks Air Force Base Commissary for several years before she and her husband, along with Allen’s nephew and family, built and operated the Green Goose Golf Course near Northwood. They sold the golf course, which is now the Northwood Golf Course, in 1987.
Dorothy enjoyed reading, cooking and baking, crocheting afghans for everyone she knew, and loved to spoil her grandchildren. Her love for life was contagious and many will remember her for her quick wit and big smile. She was always “there” for people.
