Gloria I. Fruhwirth, 76 of Grand Forks, ND passed away Monday, August 10, 2009 in Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
Gloria Ione Berglund was born August 30, 1932 the daughter of Gehard and Bertha (Froirak) Berglund in Fosston, MN. She was raised in Fosston and graduated from Fosston High School in 1951. She moved to Grand Forks and attended Aaker’s Business College.
Gloria married William M. Fruhwirth on February 2, 1957 in St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel at the Newman Center of the University of North Dakota. Following their marriage, they resided in Grand Forks and Gloria was employed at the University of North Dakota until 1959. Over the years, Bill and Gloria lived in several small towns following Bill’s career as an educator and basketball coach. They moved to Larimore, ND in 1974 and Gloria was employed as a secretary at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church and the Larimore Golf Course. Bill and Gloria moved to Grand Forks in 2000. She resided in Grand Forks until her death.
Gloria was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She enjoyed going to casinos, playing bingo and playing cards with her family and friends. Also, she was an avid University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux fan for over forty years. She considered her children and grandchildren to be the greatest joy and aspect of her life.
She is survived by, her husband, William; sons, Gregory (Barbara),Fruhwirth, Wray, CO, Brian (Denise), Fruhwirth, Overland Park, KS; daughters, Karen (Dean) Jorgenson, Fargo, ND, Gloriann (Todd) Trottier, Fargo, ND; a sister, Elaine (Robert) Miller, Indio, CA; grandchildren, Brittany Fruhwirth, Michael Fruhwirth, Justin Fruhwirth, Dillon Fruhwirth and Collin Trottier.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2009 in Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service and 4:30 p.m. rosary service in the Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Friday.
Burial: 4:00 p.m., Friday in Carrington Cemetery, Carrington, ND.
