Clifford Albert Horter, age 76, of Grafton, ND, died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 4, 2009, at his lake home near Baudette, MN.
Clifford Albert Horter was born April 24, 1933 in Thief River Falls, MN to the late Albert and Jeanne (Ruch) Horter. On August 31, 1947 Clifford was confirmed into the Christian Faith at St. John's Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN. He graduated from Lincoln High School, Thief River Falls, MN, in 1951. Clifford served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 in Korea. Clifford was united in marriage to Ramona Evens on July 10, 1955.
At the time of his death, Clifford was president of Grafton Auto Electric, Inc., a business that has been in operation for 60 years. In 1976 he was the president of the ND wholesalers and Manufacturers Association. From 1975 to 1978 he was the Governoring Board Chairman of the North Valley Vocational Center. He was a past member of the Grafton School Board. From 1987-1990 he served on the Automotive Service Industry Association Board. Clifford was a member of the VFW and a member and past commander of the Grafton American Legion Post #41. He was also the current chef de gare of the Grafton Forty et 8. He was a member of Zion English Lutheran Church of Grafton, ND.
Clifford is survived by his wife Ramona, Grafton, ND; daughter Denise Anderson, East Grand Forks, MN; sons: Todd (Ellen) Horter, Grafton, ND; and Clay Horter, Grafton, ND; son-in-law Steve Feltman, Grand Rapids, MN; grandchildren: Tiffany (Matt) Foss, Danielle Anderson, Lee, Katie and Jenna Feltman, Evan and Megan Horter, and Amy and Lauren Horter; great grandson Wyatt Foss; brother Vern Horter, Grafton, ND; sisters: Lorraine Steiger, Thief River Falls, MN, Elayne (Robert) Ottinger, San Antonio, TX, and Bernice Mason, Molene, IL. He is preceded in death by his daughter Laurie Feltman; parents Albert and Jeanne Horter; sisters: Lucy Knoll, Paulette Francis, Delores Mason and Janice Smuda.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion English Lutheran Church of Grafton, ND.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church for one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be at the Grafton Lutheran Cemetery. Military Rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion Post #41.
