Allen C. Skavhaug, age 55, of Hoople, ND passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his wife and family and under the care of Hospice.

Allen C. Skavhaug, age 55, of Hoople, ND passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his wife and family and under the care of Hospice.
Allen Clair Skavhaug was born May 16, 1954 in Park River, ND to Alden and Delina (Ramberg) Skavhaug. His mother died at the time of his birth and he was raised by his aunt and uncle, Myrtle and Norman Hogfoss of Fairdale, ND whom he also came to consider as his parents.
He attended school in Fairdale until the eighth grade. In 1969 the family moved to Grafton and he graduated from Grafton High School in 1972. After graduation, his work took him to several states, including: California, Wyoming and Alaska. He later returned to North Dakota.
Allen was united in marriage to Alice Peckham on February 15, 1991 in Grafton. The couple lived in Crystal, ND and later moved to Hoople. He worked for Strata Concrete Corporation of Grafton, ND and GLD Farms of Hoople. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Hoople. He was past president of the Eagles Aerie 2803 of Grafton. He was a member of the Dakota Jammers, M.C. and the Hoople Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed camping, crossword puzzles, visiting and joking with people, collecting die cast cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed all animals, especially his dog Brinks and cat Whispers.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Alice, his children: Deb Mize, Grand Forks, ND; Diane (Mike) Manchester, Sarasota, FL; Dawn Dessert, Fall River, MA; Kermeth (Nadine) Dessert, Somerset, MA; Jay (Robin) Peckham, Gardar, ND; Allison (Michael) Moniz, Somerset, MA; 10 grandchildren, one great grandchild, four brothers: Curtis Hogfoss, Riverside, CA; Raymond (Mary) Hogfoss, Fresno, CA; Roger (JoAnne) Hogfoss, Eugene, OR; & Norman (Cheryl) Hogfoss, Fairdale, ND; two sisters: Marlyce (Eugene) Kemmet, Wahpeton, ND and Renae (Monte) Hanson, Fargo, ND; two half brothers: Kevin and Colin Skavhaug. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Allen has donated his body to the UND Medical School.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 10:30 a..m. at the First Lutheran Church of Hoople.
Visitation will be Monday from 6-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service.
