Willis Walter Wagner, 80, of Fisher, Minnesota, passed away Saturday morning, June 13, 2009 in the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston.
Willis was born on October 5, 1928 in Fisher Township, the son of Amos and Martha (Ross) Wagner. He attended School in Fisher, Beltrami and the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston. After high school, Willis entered the military and served honorably in the U.S. Army for two years. Upon returning to the area, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Tangen on October 15, 1949. Together they farmed in the Fisher area until their retirement. Willis was a life-long member of the Fisher American Legion Post #242 and had served as Post Commander. He also served on the Fisher Township Board for several years. Willis enjoyed spending time at his cabin at Maple Lake and spending time with family and friends, visiting and playing cards. Blessed be the memory of Willis Wagner.
Willis is survived by a son, Thomas (Roberta) Wagner of Park Rapids, MN; daughters, Paulette Wagner (David Regeimbal), of Crookston, MN, Cynthia Urness of East Grand Forks, MN, and Marsha (Robert) Efta of Badger, MN; ten grandchildren, Christine (Jon) Dettmann, Karin (Todd) Smith, Colette Erck, Heidi Wagner, Nicholas and Alexandra Regeimbal, Michael Urness, Jaclyn Urness, Rachel Efta, and Nathan Efta; four great-grandchildren, Garrett and Sawyer Smith and Hannah and Sydney Dettman; a special friend, Ilene Yanish; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Besides his wife, Marilyn; Willis was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alvin Wagner; sister, Lucille Reitmeier; and a brother-in-law, Edward Reitmeier.
The funeral service for Willis Wagner will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 in the Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Crookston, MN, with Rev. Steve Bohler, officiating.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. in the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service and also for an hour before the funeral at the church. Military honors will be provided by the Fisher American Legion Post #242.
Interment will be in the Greenwood Lutheran Cemetery in Fisher, MN.
