Norma G. Haslerud passed away, surrounded by family, on April 8, 2009, at the LifeCare Medical Center at the age of 84.
Norma was born on June 30, 1924 in Rushford, MN to Mary (Thorud) and J. Benard Glenna. She and Meridith Haslerud were married on November 18, 1945. They lived in Rushford, MN, Finley, ND and finally to Roseau, MN in 1955. Norma worked for the United States Department of Agriculture, Farmers Home Administration for 20 years, retiring in 1988.
Norma enjoyed coffee with friends, golfing, playing cards, bingo, bowling, knitting, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and traveling to many different places in her life. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, V.F.W. Auxiliary, Hospital Auxiliary, a Hospice Volunteer and a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and Ladies Aide.
She is survived by her children, Steve (Pam) Haslerud of Roseau, Mary (Dean) Haslerud Opp of Grand Forks, ND and Tom Haslerud (special friend, Cherlynn) of Roseau; grandchildren, Lukas and Hannah; sister, Muriel (Bud) Thompson of Austin, MN; adopted grandson, Zach Tillberg; many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Meridith in 1987; and siblings, Richard, Arnold, Burt, Ovedia and Lila.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2009, at 11 a.m., at Messiah Lutheran Church in Roseau.
Visitation will be on Friday from 6-8 p.m., with an 8:00 p.m. Prayer Service, at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau.
Interment will be at the Hope Cemetery in Roseau.
