Nettie A. Johnson, age 100, of Grand Forks and formerly of Grafton, ND passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at her daughter's home in Grand Forks.
Nettie Amanda Johnson was born November 12, 1908 to Marie and Emil Olson of rural Fairdale, ND. She attended school through the eighth grade. Nettie worked as a housekeeper for farm families for twenty years before she married Rognvaldur (Walter) Johnson in June of 1945. They farmed together near Mountain, ND for nineteen years and had two children. In 1964 they moved to Grafton, ND where she took a job at the Grafton Developmental Center as a night attendant. She was employed there until her retirement.
Nettie is preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter; her son, Robert; three brothers: Edward, Martin and Gundmund; five sisters: Hilda Hetherington, Borghild Legacie, Genevieve Vondra, Idune Frovarp and Josephine Inga Hovde. She is survived by her sister, Gudrun Adsem, Grafton, ND; daughter Kathleen (Timothy) Ness, Grand Forks, ND; daughter-in-law Phyllis Johnson, Severn, MD; grandsons: Joshua Vossler & Erik Johnson and granddaughter Sara Kenney. She is also survived by six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of a formal visitation, family and friends are invited to an open house from 4-7 p.m., March 29, 2009 at 906 Belmont Road, Grand Forks, ND, to honor Nettie's memory.
Funeral Services will be Monday, March 30, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Grafton Lutheran Church. Friends may call at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be at the Mountain City Cemetery, Mountain, ND.
