Hazel J. Donley, 91, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks.

Hazel Jeanette Edgette was born September 19, 1917 the daughter of Ray C. and Agnes C. (Anderson) Edgette in Mikana, WI. She attended grade school in Lake Nebagmon, WI, and graduated from Superior Central High School in Superior, WI. Also, she attended Barkel Business College in Superior. Hazel married George J. Donley, on September 2, 1938 in Superior. They moved to Grand Forks ND in 1959. She was employed by Herberger’s Department Store, Grand Forks as a billing clerk in 1960 and retired after twenty-one years. Hazel was a member of St. Michaels Church. She enjoyed playing scrabble and cards, working on crossword puzzles and being with family and friends. George preceded her in death on September 9, 1977.

She is survived by her sons, George (June),Woodbury, MN, James (Judith), Danville, CA, Douglas (Susan), Grand Forks, ND; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Mae Ellen (Henry) Aronson, Onalaska, WI and brother, Edward, Russellville, AK; sisters-in-law, Mavis (Mrs. Robert) Edgette, Hibbing, MN; Beatrice (Mrs. Gene) Edgette, Pewaukee, WI.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; an infant son, Robert; her parents; a sister, Carol Pynnonen; brothers, Donald, Albert, Gene, Ray and Robert; grandchildren, Robert M. Donley and Terrance D. Donley.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2009 in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.

Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday in the Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Monday.

Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Superior, WI, in the spring.

Hazel was such a sweet lady!! It was really nice getting to know her while taking care of her at Valley. She was my favorite resident! We could talk about anything and she would understand what it felt like. I will miss my tatertot very much so!!! Very sorry for your loss Doug and family. My thoughts and prayers are with you!! Cassandra Olson(small-fry)!!!!
