Chester Dawe, 82, of Stephen, Minnesota passed away at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren, Minnesota on Tuesday, March 3, 2009.
Chester was born at Stephen on December 20, 1926 to Charles and Cecelia (Jacobson) Dawe. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Stephen. Chester was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan. After completing his military service he returned to Stephen and farmed until his retirement in the mid 90’s.
On May 28, 1982 he married Vera Keefe at Stephen. Vera passed away on May 22, 1996. Chester entered the Good Samaritan Center in Warren on July 22, 2004. He was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Stephen. Chester was also a member of the American Legion and the Senior Citizens Center both in Stephen.
Family members include nephews, David (Judi) Loer, East Grand Forks, MN; Kim (Judy) Riddlesworth, Phoenix, AZ and Terry (Donna) Riddlesworth, Lompoc, CA; a niece Tami (Mike) Goulet, Phoenix, AZ; three grand nephews; four grand nieces; a step daughter, Nina (Jerry) Halverson, East Grand Forks, MN; grandchildren, Mariel Halverson and Brady Halverson; and a great grandchild, Jasmine Drees. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera; parents; and two sisters, Irene Loer and Grace Riddlesworth.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, March 8, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in First Lutheran Church at Stephen.
Visitation will be at the church for one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Stephen City Cemetery.
The Adamson-Austin Funeral Home of Stephen is in charge of arrangements.
