Flora was born in Brownsville, TX, on November 10, 1917, the daughter of Jose and Rita (Mora) Lerma. Flora married Manuel DeLaGarza at Brownsville on October 8, 1937. The couple first lived in Port Isabel, Texas and later in Brownsville. In the winter of 1954 they moved to Nielsville.
Flora was employed on the Brekke Farm at Nielsville until 1967, when she began devoting herself full-time to the roles of wife, mom, and homemaker. Very sadly, Manuel died in a farm accident on October 11, 1975. In December of 2003 Flora became a resident of the Halstad Living Center.
Flora loved flowers and all things in nature. Her favorite pastimes included watching the Animal Planet channel on TV, and playing bingo. Flora's greatest joy was the visits from her family, including all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a quiet lady, with a big smile for everyone and a great sense of humor. Flora will be greatly missed by all whose hearts she touched.
