Stanley F. Slominski, 85 years old, of Arodoch, ND. Passed away Sunday February 15, 2009 in Phoenix, AZ.
He was born in Warsaw North Dakota on January 26, 1924, to Harry and Josephine (Nice) Slominski. Stanley served his country during WWII in the Philippines and Hawaii. After the war, he settled on a farm with his now deceased wife, Rose, where he raised animals and grains. During the years 1959 - 1988, he concurrently was employed in civil service at the Grand Forks Air Force Base. He became a winter visitor to Apache Junction, AZ, when he retired in 1988. Stanley was a member of the American Legion Club, The Eagles Club, and the Moose Lodge. He and Rose were one of the founding members of the expanding Church of St. George Catholic Church in Apache Junction, AZ.
He was proceeded in death by his wife of 56 years, Rose (Waletzko). Stanley is survived by 4 sisters [Anna Kazmirerczak, Frances Czapiewski, Bernice (Steve Vanyo) and Johanna (Cy) Dusek], and one Brother, Julian (Gladys). 4 Daughters [Patricia (Frank) Maszk, Kathy (Tom) Brocker, Susan (Craig) Nelson, and Denise Gillespie]. 1 Son Greg. 9 grand children [Jon (Lyn) Andrew (Connie) Maszk, Nikki (Dusty), Angie and Matt Brocker, Rob and Brittany (Josh) Nelson and Aaron and Meghan Gilispie. Along with 8 great-grand children, Riley, Robin, Kate and Ysable Maszk, Trent and Nicholas Hamblin and Nicholas and Lucy Casper.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, February 24th, at St. Georges Catholic Church, 300 E. 16th Av. Apache Junction, AZ.
Viewing starts at 9:30 a.m., Rosary at 10:30, Mass at 11:00 a.m. and lunch at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Warsaw, Minto, North Dakota, 58261, “For the Cemetery”.
