Roger J. Plattes, age 90, of Annandale, and formerly of Grand Forks, ND died peacefully, Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the Annandale Care Center where he was a resident.

Roger J. Plattes, age 90, of Annandale, and formerly of Grand Forks, ND died peacefully, Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the Annandale Care Center where he was a resident.
Roger Joseph Plattes was born September 7, 1918 in St. Cloud to Peter and Clementine (Karsnia) Plattes. He graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School and St. John’s University in Collegeville with a degree in English.
He married Evelyn Stahl on September 19, 1942 in San Luis Obispo, CA and she preceded him in death on July 12, 2002. Roger served his country in the US Army during World War II. He worked for 38 years as a reporter and editor at the Grand Forks Herald in Grand Forks, ND. Rogers wit and his enthusiasm for life will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his five children and their spouses, Pamela & Doug MacPherson of Fullerton, CA, Liz & Lance Morque of Minneapolis, Peter Plattes & Diana Lam of Milton, MA, David Plattes & Shelley Cook of Pequot Lakes and Karen Plates of Winthrop, MA; brother, Gordon & Pat Plattes of Arcadia, CA; 11 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Clementine; wife, Evelyn; and brother, Cyril.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 12, 2009 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale. Fr. Victor Valencia will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service, Thursday at the church.
