Construction crews worked Tuesday to build up an emergency levee overnight at Lake Renwick on the Tongue River. The levee, which is about 6 feet high and 300 feet long, is located on an emergency spillway and is designed to keep pressure off the dam. Emergency officials ordered a mandatory evacuation at 7 p.m. Tuesday for the city of Cavalier and areas between the city and Icelandic State Park, where the dam is located, about 6 miles from the city.
