Light is refracted in a glass container of medium-colored maple syrup in April 2008 near Vergas, Minn. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources this spring is offering maple syrup workshops at several state parks, including Lake Bemidji State Park. (Bruce Crummy, Forum News Service)
