Letter from Guy to Lyndon Johnson


In March 1968, then North Dakota Gov. Bill Guy wrote letters to President Lyndon Johnson and other administration officials about the need to end the Vietnam War. "The sending of more troops to Vietnam as a solution for ending this war will not sell, in my estimation, in North Dakota," Guy wrote to a Johnson adviser. The president sent this reply.
