“Doc” Richard Osmundson of East Grand Forks caught and released this 31¼-inch, 12-pound walleye June 13 during a fishing trip to Zippel Bay Resort on Lake of the Woods. According to Maury Finney, who submitted the photo, the big fish was quite a birthday present for “Doc,” who turned a “young and vibrant 86 years old a few days before.” Finney is holding the scale for Osmundson, and Bernhard Mash of Medicine Lake, Minn., is pictured in the background. "This whole happening was a great experience for all of us," Finney writes. "As I said this the biggest fish I certainly have ever seen being caught. 'Doc' is still smiling!"
