Darwin Sumner of Red Lake, Minn., landed this 28½-inch walleye June 13 on Sandy Lake, a small lake in the Red Lake Indian Reservation. Outfitter manager for Seven Clans Casino near Red Lake, Sumner is overseeing a new casino venture offering guided fishing trips on more than 25 small lakes within the reservation. A longtime guide and bass tournament angler, Sumner says the small lakes offer the opportunity to catch everything from lake trout, brook trout and rainbow trout to largemouth bass, pike and big walleyes.
