Cherish Bauer-Reich

Cherish Bauer-Reich, right, a doctoral candidate at North Dakota State University is using 1,024 processors behind her with Martin Ossowski, the Director of NDSU’s Center for Computationally Assisted Science and Technology, to model sunspots Friday, March 16, 2012, in Fargo. Bauer-Reich’s simulations involve plotting 1.5 million data points for 200 million time steps of roughly 10-second intervals. The goal of her research is to develop a model that can accurately predict sunspot activity. Michael Vosburg / Forum Photo Editor
