Checking a muskrat hut

Nat Bornsen of Larimore,N.D., uses a tile spade and a garden claw Tuesday morning to reopen a muskrat hut and check the trap he had set in a Nelson County slough. Bornsen said he sets 30 to 40 traps in a slough one day and then checks them daily for the next four days before finding a new wetland to trap. “You’ve got to check them every day,” he said of the traps.
