‘Hooked on Hunting’ youth day:
About 130 young outdoors enthusiasts and 60 adults participated in last weekend’s inaugural “Hooked on Hunting” youth day at the Grand Forks Gun Club. Sponsored by Delta Waterfowl, the Grand Forks County Wildlife Federation and the Grand Forks Park District, the event utilized a Delta-developed curriculum to teach the young participants the basics of waterfowl and waterfowl hunting. There were five stations that covered duck calling, waterfowl identification, decoys and waterfowl hunting gear, hunting dogs and waterfowl trivia. Participants also learned about firearms safety, and kids who had parental permission did some trapshooting with an adult mentor.
