Minnesota Highway 1 'Canal'

An airboat returns to Oslo, Minn., Wednesday morning, April 13, 2011, on a flood season 'canal' created by floodwaters filling the space between Minnesota Highway 1 and the Northern Railroad track bed. The boat had just dropped over its passengers at the intersection of Highway 1 and Marshall County 17, where the state highway detour south begins. The passengers included a postal carrier delivering mail to Oslo's post office and several Oslo volunteer firefighters headed to a sandbagging effort at a rural farmstead south-southeast of town. Oslo is temporarily an island surrounded by floodwaters of the Red River and overland flooding. (Photo: Mike Brue, GrandForksHerald.com)
