A Minnesota Department of Natural Resources helicopter surveys deer last week near Pine Island in the southeastern part of the state, where a wild deer shot by an archer in November tested positive for chronic wasting disease. The DNR has issued landowner permits with a goal of sampling 900 deer for the disease. In North Dakota, Game and Fish Department officials said they’ll continue to rely on hunters to provide deer for testing in Unit 3F2 of southwestern North Dakota, where two deer have tested positive for the disease.
