Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Vice President Omar Suleiman

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak speaks to his vice president, Omar Suleiman, in an image taken from state TV that aired Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011. Following more than two weeks of protests, anti-government demonstrators were given hope by official statements suggesting that Mubarak may step down after 30 years in power. But in a televised speech Mubarak announced he is handing his powers over to Suleiman, and had ordered constitutional amendments. The move means he retains his title of president and ensures regime control over the reform process, falling short of protester demands. It is not known when this video was recorded.
