Backyard ovens


In this Nov. 26, 2010 photo, Terri Karsten scores loaves of bread before placing them in her wood-fired brick oven in the backyard of her home in Winona, Minn. The oven is impressive _ more a building than an outdoor kitchen appliance. Built of red brick and roughly seven feet wide and seven feet deep, with the chimney towering more than a dozen feet overhead, it is "the most beautiful I've seen," said local bread baking guru Rosemary Binkley.
