What big eyes you have!
Veronica Whitehead, rural East Grand Forks, recently photographed this juvenile saw-whet owl that landed in the grass of the yard where she and her husband, Jim, live. “He was trying out his wings, but they didn’t work as well as intended — so we did a quick photo shoot before returning him to his tree,” Jim Whitehead, writes. The young owl must have found its wings eventually because there have been no further sightings, the Whiteheads say.
