Homeless teens

Case manager James William Jr. meets with Kenesha Hughes to talk about some job possibilities Tuesday Dec. 22, 2009 at the Hope Street Shelter for homeless teens in Minneapolis. Hughes, 19, has been at the shelter for more than 3 months after leaving home because her mother kept stealing money from her - money earmarked for college. Hope Street Shelter has 16 emergency beds for 16-21 year-olds and has to constantly turn other homeless teens away. Social Service agencies estimate there are about 1500 homeless teens in the Twin Cities area and fewer than 50 shelter beds to serve them. (AP Photo/Dawn Villella)
