Bear

Nancy Smith of Larimore, N.D., snapped this photo of a black bear crossing Grand Forks County Road 6, the “Kempton Road,” on March 8. The bear, which first appeared near Larimore last fall, apparently hibernated in the area and woke up from its winter nap during the warm weather that preceded Blizzard Coyote. Bears are relatively uncommon in North Dakota, and this particular animal likely wandered into the area from Minnesota.
