San Diego Museum of Natural History employees undercut the largely intact skull of a Columbian Mammoth, (who grow to be 12' high) found in downtown San Diego, where a new building for the Thomas Jefferson School of Law is being constructed. The discovery is important because the mammoth was found above a marine layer of sediment and also below a marine layer, which has not been seen before now. (The skull is facing directly toward you. On top is a socket (alveolius) that holds the tusk, which has fallen away to the right. An uncovered portion of foot is between the socket and tusk.)
