Mountain lions eating deer carcass

A popular report making the rounds over the Internet the past couple of weeks indicated this trio of mountain lions was photographed about 18 miles northwest of Greenbush, Minn., “near Russell’s cabin.” According to a Minnesota Department of Natural Resources official, correspondence with biologists from the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks indicates the cats most likely were captured on trail camera near Keystone, S.D., in the far southwestern corner of the state. One of the cats is wearing a yellow ear tag attached as part of a South Dakota research project.
