Personal oasis becomes garden in national spotlight

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - When Sandy Helsel wakes in the morning, she walks to her bedroom window and gazes at the garden. A butterfly goes from flower to flower while two hummingbirds fight over a feeder. Swamp sage, PeeGee hydrangea and Knock Out roses bloom. Water from an aged concrete fountain spills into a small pond.
