Leona M. HoltLeona M. Holt, 94, of East Grand Forks, MN passed away surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the 4000 Valley Square, Grand Forks, ND. Leona Holt was born January 21, 1919 in rural Grafton, ND the daughter and only child of Thomas and Mary “Mamie” (Burns) Kelly. She grew up in Grafton, ND and graduated from Grafton High School where she was a proud member of the Grafton Spoilers Pep Band. She met the love of her life, Kenneth Holt at a dance in Grafton and they were married in Grafton, ND on May 24, 1939, moving to Grand Forks in 1939. They moved to East Grand Forks in 1952. They celebrated 58 loving years of marriage together. She worked as a nurse in her early career before becoming more involved and partnering in the family business, North-Holt Electric. She was president of the Sacred Heart Guild in East Grand Forks. Leona and Kenneth retired to Warroad, MN in the late 1980’s. As a widow she moved back to East Grand Forks and lived at the Good Samaritan Senior Living Apartments.
Leona had a lively Irish spirit. Her smile, whit, humor and charm left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She had a passion for music and animals. She also enjoyed watching hockey, playing golf, crocheting, ceramics and scrapbooking. Leona lived life to the fullest “KID”
