BOYS HOCKEY: Green Wave find themselves in the rare position of underdog 
The East Grand Forks Senior High boys hockey team finds itself in a unique position. The Green Wave rarely have been the underdog this season and never by this much of a margin. It’s a role Senior High coach Tyler Palmiscno is telling his team to embrace.

In a mismatch of experience, East Grand Forks Senior High was making its first Minnesota state boys hockey tournament appearance since 2002, while Rochester Lourdes was playing in its fifth consecutive state tournament. The Green Wave, though, proved to belong at the Minnesota prep sports’ signature event.

The Green Wave have a ton of UND green in their blood. The Green Wave will play in their first Minnesota Class A state boys hockey tournament since 2002 today. Senior High will face Rochester Lourdes in the quarterfinals at approximately 8 p.m. at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Grand Forks man takes softball games to New Zealand
The spring trip to New Zealand isn’t a vacation for Grand Forks’ Gerald Muizelaar. The 38-year-old is one of the best fastpitch softball pitchers in the world and will compete with Team USA at the ISF World Softball Championships in Auckland, New Zealand.

And once again, Palmiscno is trying to beat Hardwick to allow Senior High to snap a long state tournament drought against history-rich Warroad in the East Grand Forks Civic Center. The section’s top-seeded Green Wave will take on No. 3 Warroad at 7 tonight in the Section 8A championship at the Civic Center.

TOM MILLER: Magness Arena a tough place for everyone
In what’s become the norm for the UND men’s hockey team, Magness Arena had just as much North Dakota green as Denver Pioneer maroon on Friday night in the series opener between the two teams.
“Let’s go Sioux” and “Let’s go Pios” chants traded air time back and forth throughout.
