Ruth Hallin

Ruth H. Hallin age 97 of Crookston, MN formerly of East Grand Forks, MN passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston.

Ruth H. Storbakken was born on February 25, 1915 in Marshall County, Oslo, MN, the daughter of Amund and Thora (Hanson) Storbakken.

Ruth H. Hallin age 97 of Crookston, MN formerly of East Grand Forks, MN passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston.

Ruth H. Storbakken was born on February 25, 1915 in Marshall County, Oslo, MN, the daughter of Amund and Thora (Hanson) Storbakken.

Ruth grew up in the Oslo area where she attended school in a one room school house until the 8th grade. On April 14, 1935 she was united in marriage to Clifford Hallin in Oslo, MN. They lived in the Argyle and Alvarado area where they farmed before moving to East Grand Forks when they retired in 1974. She moved to the Good Samaritan in East Grand Forks and then to the Villa St. Vincent in January of 2011.

Ruth was a member and organist of Bigwoods Lutheran Church of Oslo and a member of WELCA in Vega. She was a member of Mendenhall Presbyterian Church of East Grand Forks and was also a member of the Vega Homemakers Club of Alvarado, MN

Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family. She was very talented and spent hours crocheting afghans, doilies, tablecloths and over 300 intricate name doilies for family and friends. Ruth also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

Family members that survive Ruth include her children, Jerry (Vivian) Hallin of Rochester, MN, Arlene (Kenny) Paulson of East Grand Forks, MN, Lannie (Janice) Hallin of East Grand Forks and Debra (Bruce) Schantzen of East Grand Forks; son-in-law, Bud Paulson; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; husband Clifford Hallin on August 12, 1994; daughter, Beatrice Paulson in 1995; 13 brothers; 2 sisters and a great-grandchild.

In Lieu of flowers the family respectively requests that memorials be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, 7900 West 78th Street, Suite 100, Minneapolis, MN 55439 in Memory of Ruth Hallin.

Visitation: 5:00 pm to 7:00pm, Monday, February 4th, at Dahl Funeral Home, East Grand Forks, MN and also 1 hour prior Funeral Service in the Church on Tuesday.

Funeral services: 10:00 am Tuesday, February 5th, at Mendenhall Presbyterian Church, East Grand Forks, MN

Burial: Resurrection Cemetery following services.
