Laura Woods

Laura Woods, age 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2013 in the comfort of her home in Grand Forks, ND.

She was born on September 13, 1931, in the village of Zwoelfhauser- Mauth, in the state Bavaria, Germany, to the late Felix Schmid and Karolina Schmid. Their family later moved to Landau a.d. Isar, where she attended school and continued on to trade school.

Laura was united in marriage to her first husband the late Gerhard Reichelt in 1949. On March 6, 1970, she wed her second husband the late Herbert Woods in Kaiserslautern, Germany. In 1994, Laura and Herbert moved from Germany to Grand Forks, ND to be close to their daughter and her family. Laura and Herbert became members of Holy Family Parish in 1995. Laura enjoyed taking care of her family; she also had a love for gardening and baking.

Laura is survived by her two sons, Raimund Reichelt of Kaiserslautern, Germany and Heinz Schmid of Ortenburg, Germany; her daughter, Elvira (Clint Sr.) Bell of Grand Forks, ND; eight grandchildren, Mark Reichelt of Weilerbach, Germany, Jessica (Robert) Smith of Colorado Springs, CO, Daniela Schmid of Ortenburg, Germany, Corina Schmid of Ortenburg, Germany, Clent (Kari) Bell Jr. of Grand Forks, ND, Jason Bell of Fargo, ND, Bianca Bell of Grand Forks, ND, and Lars Reichelt of Kaiserslautern, Germany; and seven great-grandchildren. She is further survived by other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, three brothers, and three sons.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013 in Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.

Visitation: One hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Saturday.

Burial: Calvary Cemetery North, Grand Forks, ND; in the spring.
