Testing for tuberculosis at Winship Elementary School in Grand Forks resulted in one abnormal test, city officials said Wednesday.

A total of 23 tests were conducted Monday after a positive TB diagnosis of a student last week. Only students who had close contact with the infected student were tested.

The student with the abnormal test does not exhibit symptoms of TB, and is expected to undergo additional testing. The student will not be allowed in school until he or she is cleared by a health care professional.

Last week’s diagnosis brings the total number of active TB cases to 16 since the outbreak began in October.
