Paul “Kelly” Curran, 74, formally of Grand Forks, ND passed away Friday, December 21, 2012 in his new home in Thief River Falls, MN, from natural causes.Paul Robert Curran was born July 10, 1938 in Grand Forks, ND the son of William “Bill” and Mary (Danielski) Curran. Paul Graduated from Minto High School in 1956. He later graduated from Mayville State Teachers College and then earned his Masters Degree in Education at the University of North Dakota. After Graduating from college, Paul became a teacher and then a principal at Adams Public School in Adams, ND from 1960 to 1963. While at Adams, Paul taught typing, shorthand, general science, office practice, general business, bookkeeping, and history. In 1963, Paul enlisted in the North Dakota Army National Guard. In 1964, Paul relocated to Dupree, SD, where he was a teacher and principal. While at Dupree High School, he taught business education and social science until 1966. In 1966, Paul accepted a fulltime position with U.S. Customs. In 1967, Paul married Margret “Peggy” Davis of Grafton, ND. In 1969, Paul was honorably discharged from the North Dakota Army National Guard and as a Reserve of the Army. While employed by U.S. Customs, Paul worked at various locations. He served as an Inspector, Operations Officer, Port Director, and later as an Area Port Director. In 1995, Paul retired from U.S. Customs and moved to Grand Forks, ND.

Paul is survived by his wife, Peggy; three sons, David Curran, Grand Forks, ND, Daniel Curran, Kalispell, MT, Michael (Rhonda) Curran, Newfolden, MN, a brother, Clarence (Jeanette) Curran, Grand Forks, ND; and 4 grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by his mother Mary and his father Bill.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: One hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Saturday.
Burial: St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Minto, ND, in the spring.
Military Honors: Members of the American Legion Post 157, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the North Dakota National Guard, in the spring.
