Giuseppe’s restaurant in downtown Grand Forks will have new owners but the same name, menu and food, say its buyers.
“Giuseppe’s serves good food right now, and we don’t really want to mess with that,” said Jeff Tellmann, who is buying the business at 414 DeMers Ave. with his wife, Nicki.
The Tellmanns both grew up in restaurants, Jeff said. He owns the Red Pepper, which his parents bought in 1973, and she has worked in finer dining places in town, such as Sanders 1907. They also have hired chef Chris Schultz, who has worked for the Toasted Frog and Lola’s, a former downtown restaurant.
Tellmann said they planned to make small changes to the restaurant’s atmosphere and menu but keep its identity and food intact.
“As time goes on, at the beginning of the year, we’ll just start to tweak it,” he said. “Giuseppe’s menu right now is the core and we’re just going to build on it.”
