Audrienne Grefsheim Engesather, formerly of Petersburg, ND, passed away October 10, 2012, at her home in Grand Forks, ND.
She was born December 27, 1927, in Northwood, ND, to Christine Tandberg Grefsheim and Albert Grefsheim, into a family with three sisters. She graduated from Northwood High School in 1945.
While studying at the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Grand Forks, she met her husband, John. They were married on August 12, 1951, and enjoyed 61 years of marriage. After 3 years of serving as a nursery supervisor at the hospital, she and John married and settled in Petersburg, ND, where they raised their three children.
Audrienne was very active in her church and community. As a member of the Petersburg Lutheran Church, she served as the Sunday School treasurer, and was a member of the Ladies Aid and church choir. She was also a member of the Civic Club, the Curling Club and volunteered with the American Cancer Society. She loved to sing and was a member of the Nelson County Chorus. She was a Cub Scout leader and an avid curler. She enjoyed hardanger, was an accomplished quilter, an expert lefse maker and a dog lover.
In 1994, she and John retired and later moved to Grand Forks, spending their winters in Chandler, AZ. Summers were spent enjoying their lake cabin in Bemidji, MN.
She is survived by her husband John Engesather, son Randall (Karen) Engesather – Grafton, ND, daughter Laurel (Tom) Fanning – Singapore/Colorado, son Dana (Kris) Engesather – Bemidji, MN, and granddaughter Elena Fanning.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Kathleen Olson, Mardelle Bragg, and Alverne Bohn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Salvation Army or the charity of your choice are preferred.
Visitation: Monday October 15, 2012, from 5-7 PM with an open prayer service at 7 PM at Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND.
Funeral Service: Tuesday October 16, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Petersburg Lutheran Church, Petersburg, ND, with internment immediately following the service at the Petersburg Cemetery.
