Donald R. Holler, age 85, of Drayton, ND died peacefully on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at his home.

Donald Ray Holler was born the son of John P.R. and Ruth (Inglis) Holler at Drayton, ND on August 12, 1927. He graduated from Drayton High School in 1945 and began work on a Northern Pacific Railroad Section Gang. He lived his entire life in the Drayton area with the exception of his military service in the Korean War. He soon went to work in the Drayton Post Office as a Clerk and later as Postmaster for a combined tenure of over 35 years. On November 22, 1953, he married Doris L. Kirkeby of Drayton.

Donald was an active member in community organizations including Drayton Improvements, Drayton Golf Club, and the International Order of Odd Fellows. He was a past Commander, long-time Adjutant and lifetime member of American Legion Post 159. He was also a lifetime member of the Dacotah Curling Club. He was a member of the Drayton Lutheran Church.

Family members include: a son and daughter-in-law, COL (Ret) John H. and Beth Holler of St. Robert, Missouri; two grandsons: 2LT Donald B. Holler, US Army, Ft. Sill, Oklahoma and James E. Holler, student, NW Missouri State University.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, his parents, John and Ruth, and brothers: John I. and Robert W. Holler.

Honorary Pallbearers are all members of American Legion Post 159 and the Dacotah Curling Club.

Memorial services are scheduled for Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in Drayton Lutheran Church.

Interment will be in the Drayton City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the church for two hours prior to the service.

The Austin Funeral Home of Drayton is in charge of arrangements.
