Just because summer is drawing to a close, doesn’t mean the fun has to. Here are some options for kids after the school bell rings.

Encourage your kids to start a hobby

•Construct and customize model cars, airplanes, tanks or ships

•Collect trading cards, figurines, coins or comics

•Try beading and jewelry-making

•Explore the art of paper folding in origami

•The hours spent on these projects would surely make any child feel a sense a satisfaction once complete.

The Y’s Marvelous after School Hours offers these activities

•Gym and outdoor games

•Work on arts and crafts projects

•Create creepy crawly dirt cups and other edible delights

•Do a little homework in a quiet corner

Let your little ones dabble in different activities until they determine their interests

•Go on a nature walk

•Compose a musical selection, poem or short story

•Learn the art of expression through theater and impromptu groups

•Take part in the Grand Forks Public Library book club

•Become a volunteer within the community, whether visiting a retirement home or helping with a food drive.
