Large hail and damaging winds possible in severe thunderstom warning

A severe thunderstom warning has been issued for the eastern North Dakota, west central and northwest Minnesota. Large hail and damaging winds are considered to be the primary concern in the afternoon.

A severe thunderstom warning has been issued for eastern North Dakota, west central and northwest Minnesota.

There is a slight chance of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and throughout the evening. Mainly across the Sheyenne and southern Red River Valleys.

Large hail and damaging winds are considered to be the primary concern in the afternoon. Storms will move into the area in the afternoon, but eventually break up with some sunshine.

The sunshine is expected to make the atmosphere unstable though. Along with very weak low pressure moving in, storms could redevelop later this evening.

The counties under watch are West Polk, Norman, Clay, Kittson, Roseau, Lake of the Woods, West Marshall, East Marshall, North Beltrami, Pennington, Red Lake, East Polk, North Clearwater, South beltrami, Mahnomen, South Clearwater, Hubbard, West Becker, East Becker, Wilkin, West Otter Tail, East Otter Tail, Wadena, Grant, Towner, Cavalier, Pembina, Benson, Ramsey, Eastern Walsh, Eddy, Nelson, Grand Forks, Griggs, Steele, Traill, Barnes, Cass, Ransom, Sargent, Richland, and Wester Walsh County.
