Apple Crisp
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup light brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
Pinch salt
1 stick (½ cup) butter, cut into ½-inch cubes
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 tablespoon cornstarch
½ teaspoon ground ginger
6 cups apple cored, chopped
2 tablespoons lemon juice
In bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, ½ cup granulated sugar, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg, salt. Add butter until coarse crumbs form. Stir in walnuts; set aside. In bowl, whisk remaining sugar, cornstarch, ginger, remaining cinnamon. Place apples in slow-cooker; stir in cornstarch mixture, lemon juice. Cover with crumb topping. Cover, cook on high 2 hours, until apples are tender. Uncover to allow topping to harden. Serve with ice cream.
