Jennie Pearson, 86, of Lancaster, MN, passed peacefully from this life on Monday, June 25, 2012 at the Kittson Memorial Nursing Home in Hallock, MN.

Jennie Pearson, 86, of Lancaster, MN, passed peacefully from this life on Monday, June 25, 2012 at the Kittson Memorial Nursing Home in Hallock, MN.

Jennie Ann Maksymchuk was born November 23, 1925 in Caribou Township, MN, the daughter of John and Elena (Morrison) Maksymchuk. She attended country school in Caribou until the 8th grade, after which she attended Lancaster High School, graduating in 1943. She then went to teachers training in East Grand Forks, MN. She taught in country schools in Tabor and Bygland, MN.

On October 26, 1947 Jennie was united in marriage to Philip W. Pearson at Thief River Falls, MN. Together they farmed and raised their family on the Pearson Farm west of Lancaster. Jennie was a wonderful homemaker and was noted for her delicious holiday feasts and numerous meals prepared for the many employees of the farm.

Jennie was a member of the Sion Lutheran Church and WELCA, Lancaster and the American Legion Auxiliary. She served on the Kittson County Welfare Board for 30 years and was a member of the Quinn County Community Health Advisory Board. She was an avid bowler and was active in bowling leagues in both Lake Bronson and Hallock, MN.

Throughout the years Jennie was employed at the Lancaster Co-op Grocery Store and the Hallock Bowling Alley.

Jennie's deepest joy came from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends at one of her favorite places, the Pearson cottage at Maple Lake near Mentor, MN.

Her beloved husband Philip passed away on January 29, 1976. Jennie continued to live on the farm until 2003 when she moved to the Lancaster Homes Apartments. In August of 2010 she became a resident of the Kittson Memorial Nursing Home.

Jennie is survived by her three children, sons Perry (Shirley) Pearson, Hallock, MN, Brent (Peggy) Pearson, Lancaster, MN and daughter Kris (Donald) Thorlacius, Hallock, MN; eight grandchildren, Jason (Rachael) Pearson, West Fargo, ND, Sarah (Kip) Ebel, Westfield, NJ, Philip (Nicky) Pearson, Dunseith, ND, Casey Pearson, Grand Forks, ND, Katie (Anthony) Driscoll, Hallock, MN, Patrick Pearson, Grand Forks, ND, Daniel Thorlacius, Hallock, MN and Kristjan Thorlacius, Thief River Falls, MN; thirteen great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Madison and Emma Pearson, Olivia, Alex and Mia Ebel, Taitum and Tucker Pearson, Kyla, James and Peyton Pearson, and Kaitlin and Gavin Driscoll; one brother, Robert Allen (Geraine) Maksymchuk, Moorhead, MN; two sisters, Marie (Robert) Quirk, Mt. Clemens, MI and Dorothy Sveum, Thief River Falls, MN; sister-in-law, Pauline Christopherson, Lancaster, MN; as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband Philip; parents John and Elena Maksymchuk; a brother William Maksymchuk; sisters-in-law Shirley Maksymchuk, Ruth Pearson and Katharine Hendrickson; brothers-in-law Scott Sveum and Charles Christopherson.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, June 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Sion Lutheran Church, Lancaster, MN.

Interment will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens, Lancaster.

Visitation will be held at the Austin Funeral Home in Hallock on Thursday, June 28, 2012 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
