Double Chocolate Brownies

¾ cup unsifted flour

¼ teaspoon baking soda

¼ teaspoon salt

5 tablespoons butter

¾ cup sugar

2 tablespoons water

1 12-ounce package (2 cups) chocolate chips, divided use

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 eggs

½ cup chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt. Set aside. In saucepan, combine butter, sugar, water. Bring just to boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add 1 cup chocolate chips, vanilla extract. Stir until chips melt, mixture is smooth. Transfer to mixing bowl. Beat in eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Gradually blend in flour mixture. Mix until smooth. Stir in remaining cup of chocolate chips, walnuts. Put batter into well-greased 9-inch-square baking pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool before cutting.

Yield: 16 2¼-inch brownies.
