A construction project began Thursday that reduced traffic to one lane in each direction on a portion of Interstate 29 south of Grand Forks, the North Dakota Department of Transportation announced.

The work, which consists of median crossover construction along I-29 and bridge deck replacement of the Reynolds Crossroad Bridge, is happening between Buxton and Thompson.

The bridge will be temporarily closed for a portion of the project, which is expected to be completed in late August. Until completed, the construction will cause reduced speeds, possible brief delays and a 22-foot width restriction.
