RED WING, Minn. — Health concerns are prompting officials to begin evacuating employees from the Goodhue County Public Health building in southeast Minnesota.
The Minnesota OSHA division says three main issues need to be resolved. Those include a strong sewer odor, the ceiling leaking water with visible mold, and employees complaining of headaches and nausea.
County Administrator Scott Arneson has begun moving 21 employees out of the building and into the county's government center.
The Post-Bulletin of Rochester reports the entire public health building is expected to be vacated by June 1.
An OSHA official says the agency has not determined whether the hazards exist at the workplace, but asked that the county immediately investigate the allegations.
The county administrator says "all efforts" are being made to minimize exposure to potential hazards.
