Marilyn will start her schedule today with a radio interview.
She’s scheduled to do lunch with Anderson Cooper’s crew at the Crown restaurant near Central Park. The New York Times gives it one of four stars, recommends meat dishes more than seafood and says it has the ambiance of a millionaire’s town house. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/01/dining/crown-nyc-restaurant-review.html?pagewanted=all
This could change in a New York minute; Anderson’s crew has switched restaurants a few times, intent on picking just the right spot.
There’s time in Marilyn’s schedule in the afternoon to do some sightseeing, perhaps at Times Square, where she’ll be again come supper time. Supper will be at the Olive Garden. The Times has not reviewed the “OG.” Yelp.com users give it three of five stars. http://www.yelp.com/biz/olive-garden-new-york
One user, who says he drives a tour bus, says everything costs $1 to $5 more than in the suburbs and the tourists treat the staff poorly.
On Thursday, Marilyn is scheduled to tape a segment for Anderson’s eponymous CNN show.
She plans to have dinner at Le Bernardin, a high-end seafood restaurant (The fixed price menu is $125 per person.). Anthony Bourdain, host of the Travel Channel’s “No Reservations” show and a Marilyn fan, arranged a reservation; he’s a friend of the chef-owner. A Times review from 2005 gives Le Bernardin four stars and calls it “a high church of reverently prepared fish.” http://www.nytimes.com/2005/03/16/dining/reviews/16rest.html?_r=1 http://www.le-bernardin.com
Marilyn is scheduled to arrive at her home on Cottonwood Street in Grand Forks on Friday, where she’ll work on her Sunday column.
